On Music (and Movie) Preferences

I was lucky to be exposed to different genres of music back in college. Being surrounded with musicians friends and being part of a music organization, it taught me to appreciate all types of music.. Of course i have my own listening favorites but I know if I have to play any type of music, I'd enjoy it....


Why do I like to listen to happy pop mainstream music? Nothing wrong with mainstream music.. how I wish a lot of my favorite artist would have as much following and promotions as pop artists... anyway.. music that talk about love, girls, guys, cars and parties is a nice reminder that my life isn't always so complicated and hard.  That I don't always have to over-analyze things which is something I do a lot. Not everything have to be deep and profound for it to matter... This is the same with me watching silly chick flicks and cheesy foreign tv series..
There really are simple songs that may lack artistic ingenuity or individuality but have the power to make the listeners feel happy, enthusiastic and optimistic...
